Setting up Windows 98
Many of our customers are receiving
their computers with Internet Explorer 4.0
+ preinstalled on their Windows 95 / 98 systems.
Setting up the Internet on these computers
is quick and easy and usually doesn't require
the installation of any outside software;
This document is intended to guide you through
the setup and configuration of the Internet
in either of these situations.
Prerequisites:
Getting Started
Verify that the Connection
Wizard is installed
This guide assumes that the Internet Connection
Wizard is installed. To verify that it is
find the Internet Explorer group(not the internet
explorer icon) in the Start menu and choose
Connection Wizard.
Running the Wizard
When you start the Wizard the following
screen will come up:

At this screen press
the Next button.

Choose "I Want to set
up a new connection on this computer
to my existing Internet account using
my phone line or local area network
(LAN)" and press the Next
button.

Choose the "Connect using
my phone line" option and press the
Next button.

If asked choose your
modem and press the Next button.

Choose the "Create a
new dial-up connection" option and
press Next.

If the check box labeled
"Dial using the area code and country
code." is checked, remove the check.
Press the Next button to continue.

In the next screen you
will enter the username and password
you received when you signed up. Your
username should be entered in all
lowercase, and should not be longer
than 8 characters. Your password is
case sensitive so it is important
that you enter it exactly as it appears
on your setup sheet. Press Next
to move on.

On the next screen where
it asks "Do you want to change the
advanced settings for this connection?"
select No and press the Next
button.

The next screen asks
you to give a name to the connection,
enter "Solar Winds Online" and press
the Next button.
The next part of the wizard configures
Outlook Express to be your email and news
programs.

The next screen will
ask "Do you want to set up an Internet
mail account now?" choose Yes
and press the Next button.

Choose the "Create a
new Internet mail account" option
on the next screen and press the Next
button to continue.

Next, the "Your Name"
dialog will come up, enter your real
name into the "Display Name" dialog
box and click Next.

On the "Internet E-mail
Address" screen you will need to enter
your email address, it should be in
the form of: username@internetguys.ca
When you have finished that press
Next to move on.

Select the "Log on using"
option, and where it asks for your
POP account name enter your username
make sure you do not include
the "@internetguys.ca". Enter your
password into the Password field and
press Next.

In the "Friendly Account
Name" box enter mail.internetguys.cal
and press Next.

Choose Yes when
it asks you if you'd like to setup
an Internet news account and click
Next.

Next the "Your Name"
dialog will come up, enter your real
name into the "Display Name" dialog
box and click Next.

On the "Internet News
E-mail Address" screen you will need
to enter your email address, it should
be in the form of: username@internetguys.ca
When you have finished that press
Next to move on.

In the "Friendly Account
Name" box enter news.internetguys.ca
and press Next.

When it asks you if you'd
like to "Setup your Internet Directory
Service" choose No and click
Next.

Click Finish to
complete the installation.
The setup of the Internet software
is now complete, click on either the Internet
Explorer or Outlook Express icons to connect
and use them on the Internet.
