Windows 2000 Dial Up Setup

Manual Setup Procedure

The following section deals with the step-by-step procedure of setting up your computer using the Internet Connection Wizard.

  1. Click on , and double click on Internet Options , click the Connection tab, and click Setup. This will start the Internet Connection Wizard.

  2. Once started select the third option, I want to setup my Internet connection manually, or I want to connect through a local area network(LAN), and click Next.

  3. Select Connect using a phone line and modem, and click Next.

  4. Enter the phone number for your type of connection, uncheck Use area code and dialing rules, and click Next.

    The Use area code and dialing rules is also labeled as Dial using area code and country code on older versions of the ICW(Internet Connection Wizard).

  5. Enter the login ID and password that you were assigned by Solar Winds Online, the login ID is also the first part of your primary e-mail address, click Next when you are finished.

  6. Change the connection name to Solar Winds Online and click Next.

  7. You have now completed the Setup of your Solar Winds Online connection, click Finish to save your settings. To access the Internet open ant Internet related program, such as Internet Explorer or Netscape and your computer will automatically connect

    Some versions of the ICW(Internet Connection Wizard) will ask if you want to setup additional services such as a mail, news, or directory account before you finish the wizard, for this setup procedure you want to say No to these additionally services and click Next. Refer to the links below for information on how to setup your mail and news accounts.
