NEW - Server Based Antivirus

Q: What is it ?
A: It is a command line string added to the mail server that scans all mail to and from an associated email address i.e. username@internetguys.ca

Q: Do I need to keep my existing Antivirus ?
A: You can never have to much Virus Protection. The majority of viruses these days are brought forth by email, however there is still java applets, webpage code, music files and a variety of other internet and non internet related ways to contract a virus. Server based antivirus is an additional protection to what you already have in place. Please remember it will only protection your EMAIL.

Q: Is this service mandatory ?
A: No not at all. It is completely Opt-In meaning you need to ask us to add your account to the scan list. We have added this service because through experience we know alot of people fail to update their virus scanners and it causes both head aches for the customer as well as increased workload for us.

Q: Why not offer the service free ?
A: I wish we could. The server based antivirus system is an additional cost for us and with increased work the mail server has to do it will mean a new more powerful mail server before to long. We basically would like the service to cover those costs. This is not a revenue generating service for us. It is a value added service for the customer.

Q: What does it cost ?
A: $ 2.00 per month per email address or if you have your own domain $ 25.00 month per domain to protect all the email addresses for the domain. If your domain only has 1 or 2 email addresses then you would want to just purchase the service individually. Nothing is more embarrassing having your company send a virus to one of your customers.

Q: How hard is it to set up ?
A: Easy as falling in love, we just add your email address to the list and in 4 hours you start being protected.

Q: Is there a guarantee?
A: There is no guarantee, we will provide the best possible protection for you as possible, however sometimes the bullet gets through and kills the president.

Q: How often is the server antivirus definitions updated ?
A: The servers definition files are updated daily at 2PM MST and come into effect at 4PM MST.

Q: How do I subscribe to this service ?
A: Email antivirus@internetguys.ca and it will be added to your monthly, or yearly billing.

These links below have been put together by our Technical Support staff in order to provide you with assistance protecting you from virus threats. We have noticed an increased amount of virus propagation among our customers and cannot stress enough the need for a good virus scanner and proper updates for the software. Most people do not even know they have contracted a virus and are unknowingly spreading them to all their friends and family.

What ever virus software you choose or have is useless if you do not keep it updated. If you feel you have a virus on your computer and cannot clean it yourself we can fix it for you. You can call our office to set up an appointment. However the best bet is not to get one in the first place. AVG 6.0 is the virus Scanner we install on our customers computers because for 1 it is FREE and 2 we have found it works better the Norton or Mcafee. If you are willing to purchase an antivirus protection package we highly recommend PC-illian.
